Camogli is a small, coastal town on the Ligurian coast. It’s nestled in the hills between Recco and Rapallo and lies just around the corner from Portofino. Camogli has been thrust into the spotlight over the past few years as a must-see destination in Italy.
I visited Camogli during the first week of September and was blown away by the beauty and local feel of this town. If you’re traveling through northern Italy or Liguria, don’t miss this beautiful spot!
How to Get to Camogli
For anyone traveling to Camogli, you’ll likely connect at the Genoa train station or the Rapallo train station, depending on which direction you’re coming from.
From Milan, Turin, or even the French Riviera, you will connect in Genoa before arriving in Camogli. From Florence or Rome (or further south), you will connect at the Rapallo station. All of these train rides mentioned are absolutely stunning, and there’s truly nothing better than training through the Italian countryside and coastline. I always book my trains through Omio and have linked it below.
You can also fly into Genoa if you’re arriving from a further destination. Camogli is a quick car or train ride from Genoa.

Where to Stay in Camogli
Camogli is a very small town, so there isn’t really a certain area that you should or shouldn’t stay. If you don’t have a car, make sure that your accommodation is close to the coast, as that is where all of the restaurants and shops are.
We stayed in this Airbnb (linked below) and loved it! It wasn’t as updated as other Airbnbs that I’ve stayed in (no AC), but it felt local and had an incredible deck with a panoramic view of the coast.
Where to Eat in Camogli
Camogli, like all Italian towns, is filled with unbelievable restaurants and cafes. When in Italy, you typically can’t go wrong with stumbling into any family-run restaurant. When you’re in Camogli, try some of the spots listed below!
- Vento Ariel – don’t miss this seafood-centric dinner spot. I would highly recommend making a reservation at this restaurant, especially in the busy summer months.
- Pasta Fresca Fiorella – this is a more casual pasta spot. Great for lunch and dinner on the coastline near the beach clubs.
- Bagni Lido – this is one of the more prominent beach clubs in Camogli, the one with the lime green umbrellas. There is a restaurant here that serves fantastic pasta and pizzas for lunch and dinner.
- Pub La Cage Aux Folles – this cafe is the perfect spot to grab an Aperol spritz before dinner. Like most cafes in Italy, they serve coffee in the mornings and this was a great spot for coffee centrally located in town.
- Il Doge – great for a nicer dinner overlooking the sea.
Shops to Visit
![Camogli Jewelry](https://vogelle.blog/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Camogli-Jewelry.jpeg)
There are a few amazing jewelry, art, and pottery shops lining the main street above the coastline. There’s a specific jewelry store on Via al Molo that we particularly loved, but I can’t seem to find the shop online. Many of these stores are not labeled on the map, so it’s worth walking around town so see what you can find. I purchased earrings and bracelets in Camogli that I wear frequently in LA.
The other street with great shops is Via Della Repubblica, which is just one street up from the main coastal street. You can spend an afternoon popping in and out of different shops. All of the stores in Camogli are local and sell unique items to the area.
If you’re staying in an Airbnb, be sure to grab groceries from the Olcese E Bisso – Frutta e Verdura grocery store on Via Della Repubblica. We gathered our food, snacks, and wine from this grocery store throughout our week in Camogli and not only enjoyed the very low prices, but we were able to enjoy fresh and local food. And I mean FRESH! The cheese, wine, and grapes from this store were unbelievable and the shop owners were very nice.
Day Trips from Camogli
Camogli is surrounded by some of the most stunning areas in Italy. Genoa used to be the busiest port in the world and is full of history. Rapallo is another coastal town that is only one train stop away from Camogli. Cinque Terre is a little ways further down the coast but is easily reachable from Camogli.
San Fruttoso
San Fruttoso is an isolated abbey with a small beach that lies on the coast near Camogli. It’s reachable by ferry and is a very popular day (or half-day) trip from Camogli.
Portofino
Portofino is the other popular day trip from Camogli. Visitors can reach Portofino and San Fruttoso from the Porto di Camogli. If you’re headed to Camogli during the busy seasons, it’s crucial to book your ferries well in advance. These are small ferries that only run a few times each day. When they’re sold out, there really no other options. We visited in early September and the town was fairly quiet but we still had a hard time getting tickets for the ferry.
Plan ahead because you don’t want to miss these two insanely beautiful Italian coastal gems!
